Early this month, Montgomery County Council, one of the largest and most affluent jurisdictions in Maryland, voted unanimously to implement a $15 minimum wage beginning in 2021. This makes Montgomery the first and only jurisdiction to enact its own wage mandate in the state of Maryland. Fight for $15 had another big win in Ontario, as it became the first province in Canada to institute the raise.
