Early this month, New Jersey became the fourth state to raise its hourly minimum wage to $15. The new rate will phase in with gradual increases over the next five years. Meanwhile, Illinois is one step closer with its own bill, proposing to make the same increase by 2025. The legislation just passed the State Senate and now it heads to the House. Maryland lawmakers are still debating the issue, and they aren’t the only ones. Pennsylvania Governor, Tom Wolf, is making it clear that a base salary discussion will be at the center of his second term in office.
