UPDATE – Can you say lockout?

by | Oct 1, 2004 | Uncategorized

San Francisco hotels locked out striking hotel employees. Interestingly, in a full-page ad taken out by the hotels today they claim that the only real sticking point in the negotiations is the length of the contract. UNITE HERE has stated that its strategy is to get common expiration dates on its hotel contracts to help increase pressure on the hotels (in two years hotel contracts are up in Chicago, New York and elsewhere). As mentioned earlier, this is a good strategy for the hotels, which are continuing to operate with replacement workers.
