What Others are Saying

I wanted to drop you a line to let you know about the terrific job Joe Brock and LRI did for our employees. Joe was extremely knowledgeable, easy to work with and has great interpersonal skills that allow him to genuinely connect with employees at all levels. Our facilities mechanics and custodians were so appreciate of his work and the information he shared that he received many hugs, handshakes and thank yous on the last day. Joe also left management with a lot to think about and a road map of what needs to be done differently. Our employees ultimately voted to overwhelmingly defeat the Teamsters 43-no to 3-yes that allows us to continue to work directly with our employees in their best interest giving the us the opportunity to make things right. Joe was a great partner to HR as well, collaborating on the strategy and actions needed to make the union campaign a success. Thank you again for the great service. I would welcome the opportunity to be a reference for Joe and LRI at anytime.

Great information all lumped into one web site.
R. Balser

As a current target of a union organizing campaign, I highly value this site to provide me any new information regarding the Card Check Bill or anything that could be of value in combating what is unquestionably the most undemocratric and biased procedure and battle I have ever encountered. Representing oneself is difficult enough and I appreciate all that the LRI does.

Unions to Hit Record Low in Organizing?

Stay tuned, but it looks like unions will file less than 2,000 NLRB petitions in 2009 for the first time since… well, ever. Here is what petition activity has looked like over the last decade (click the picture to download a larger version):

organizing 1999 20091 Unions to Hit Record Low in Organizing?

As we sit here in mid-November, unions have filed just over 1,800 petitions for the year. That’s off about 25% from last year and around half as many petitions as filed 5 years ago. There is still about a month and a half left, but unions typically slow down during the month between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I guess we know what unions are asking Santa Claus for this year (probably the same thing they asked for last year…).
