Randi Weingarten, the former head of the New York City teachers’, received $194,188 for unused vacation and sick days accrued while working for the United Federation of Teachers, before taking her new position as President of the American Federation of Teachers. This boosted her total compensation to $600,000 for 2010. Weingarten’s pay “adds up to five times the annual salary of the average teacher, and it’s all money that comes from forced union dues from teachers,” union said Sarah Longwell of the Center for Union Facts.
