Teamster’s Focus On Dues, Not Fair Pay

by | Dec 20, 2010 | Labor Relations Ink

Teamster Bus Attendants in New York City are making less than minimum wage.  Their union-negotiated contract specifies a work week of 40 hours “within a twelve hour spread,” which equates to $4.38 per hour. The attendants are also not paid for all their time worked. Attendants stop getting paid after the last patron exits the bus, and often are not paid for mid-day field trips. Over 100 bus attendants have signed three group grievances to achieve gaining pay for field trips, time-and-a-half for overtime, and to make at least minimum wage.
