What Others are Saying

Superb structure and content advisory for the LM avalanche approaching. I particularly liked the tripwire commentary and redirection to the Jump team. Then there are those masterful remarks in the communications tips, especially the employee-centric point.. Liked the set up to the toxic employee in a compressed time period...should be appealing to most managers.

Thank you for help. Your recommendation to add Fred Grubb to our negotiation team was right on. He has been a God-send. His counsel has kept me from the steel bar hotel. I cannot deal with habitual liars. You need to talk with him to understand what I mean. Fred said he could “write a book” about this negotiation, it has been so bizarre.

There's a wealth of information on this site and it covers everything a person may want to know about unions. I'm glad I was able to see this site and know where to look in the future should I need more information.

Recess Appointments to NLRB?

President Obama has already announced his nominations to fill out the National Labor Relations Board, but rather than wait for the Senate confirmation process, many on the “progressive” side are pushing the President to use his power of recess appointment to ram the appointments through. According to NBC Politics,

Asked Tuesday whether there was a possibility that Obama would give Cordray or nominees to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) recess appointments, Obama spokesman Jay Carney replied, “We’re not relinquishing any rights here.”

Obama’s progressive allies cite the case of President Theodore Roosevelt in 1903 who used a brief inter-session recess to make over 160 appointments, mostly of military officers, according to the Congressional Research Service.

It is still unclear whether the recess appointments would stand up, since the Senate is holding pro forma sessions every three days for the expressed purpose of preventing such appointments. The tactic has been used successfully before, most recently against George W. Bush.
