This is a very interesting project of the SEIU that is worth watching. It is called Qvisory and it is a community site for young working people. I’ve argued for a long time that unions need to re-think their basic purpose in life and reorganize around a service-model for all working people, not just representatives of members in particular companies (here is a post from 2005 where I talk about the idea at some length). Qvisory looks like a baby step in that direction. I’ll be watching this site.
