Pictures from the SF Hotel strike

by | Oct 3, 2004 | Unionized Company

There are some great pictures up on the San Francisco hotel strike (now lockout), including this one: This is an interesting study of a strike. It captures the picketers going by in a blur, almost anonymously, while the hotel guest is waiting for a cab and pretty clearly trying to ignore the picketing, hoping not to get involved. One picketer looks on, studying the guest – trying to catch his attention and probably wondering if he and his mates are catching the attention of the world at large. There is another touching picture of a sous chef getting a hug from her general manager after he informs her that she is locked out from her job. These things are heart-wrenching – nobody wins. Hopefully it gets resolved quickly and safely.
