Impact of restrictive work rules

I thought this was an interesting post from Cafe Hayek on the impact of restrictive work rules. It illustrates an extreme example from Latin America of what we face on a regular basis here in the states – the living wage movement, the minimum wage increase in Florida (which passed overwhelmingly) and the proposed requirement that employers provide health insurance in California (which thankfully failed – remind me again why people do business in that state?) are recent examples. I think it is always very important to consider how rational actors respond to such market interference before demanding that employers meet these restrictions.
