History Is Pretty Clear On This Issue!

The closest thing you’ll get to a peek at the future of the USA under the rule of unions provided by the Employee Free Choice Act has been graciously provided by Clair Berlinski, author of the newly released There Is No Alternative: Why Margaret Thatcher Matters. In a her article today at FrontPageMag.com, she takes us on a brief history lesson.

In the late 70’s, Britain was so paralyzed by trade unions that entire industries were choking. “We don’t want to increase our trade with you,” said the Soviet trade minister to his British counterpart. “You’re always on strike.”

Enter Thatcher in 1979 – and her sweeping 1980 Employment Act. Among the key provisions of the act was the initiation of secret ballot voting for union representation, enacted to end the coercive tactics of union organizers. As the death grip of unions was pried away from Britain’s defunct economic engine (Britain was the second-poorest nation in Europe at the time), the country entered the longest period of economic expansion in the post-war era.

Berlinski points out that the misnamed Employee Free Choice Act has provisions that will provide even more union and government intrusion into American businesses than existed in the 1970’s in Britain. We simply cannot afford this, yet it looks as though this freight train of economic disaster is on greased wheels and running full steam ahead.

If we do not stop the unions at the polls next month (by defeating Obama and those who would give such free reign to the unions), then the only other place to take the fight is to the shop floors and break rooms of American businesses. Proponents of free enterprises MUST win the hearts and allegiance of their employees, and be prepared to counter union tactics.

I know I’ve said it already – I don’t know what else to say: if you are a businessman or woman in America, you had better be prepared! The cost of fighting and winning against union encroachment will increase exponentially the longer you wait. If you are still not convinced, I urge you to do a google search on the Employee Free Choice Act, filter out all responses by either unions or politicians, and take to heart what business experts (be careful the weight you give to those in academia) are saying!
